What is authorized list in remote access?

When the user registers for the IP Remote Access dial service, a list of authorized IP designations is associated with the account and/or user ID profile. User access is restricted to only those individual IP hosts and/or destination subsets in the authorized list. The Authorization List is currently limited to no more than 120 entries (network and host). The LIG verifies the list by inspecting all packets going to and from the user. The following security process is followed:

How does IP Remote Access work?

IP Remote Access dial traffic is only sourced at the user client , with responses being received only from the authorization IP destination servers. Upon receiving a packet from the client, the LIG translates the source address of the packet. The socket information (the source address, source port, destination address, and destination port) is stored in a 50 element circular array for each client within the LIG. When a return packet is received by the LIG, the packet’s socket information must match an entry, based on the initial client enquiry, in the array or an error is logged and the packet is discarded. If a match is found the packet goes through address translation to restore the original destination address from the pool address.
