What time does the ALS office open?

What is rope access?
Rope access services is ALS’s preferred method for safely and efficiently reaching remote locations. As an alternative to traditional access techniques, such as scaffolding, elevated work platforms (EWPs) and cranes, the time demands of rope access techniques fraction the construction and cost demands of traditional methods without any safety trade-offs.

The benefits of rope access services over traditional access methods include: 1 The removal of equipment requirements such as EWP and scaffolding. 2 The reduction of labour requirements. 3 Quick response time and faster access which decreases operational downtime. 4 A minimised potential damage to structures or assets. 5 The reduced reliance on costly shutdowns by combining rope access with inspection methods to support in-service inspection.

The NX client is free and easy to install. Please refer to our NX page for instructions on downloading, installing and configuring the client. It is important that you follow the configuration instructions carefully – the new NX client is very sensitive to the correct settings.
STEP 2: CONNECT TO THE BCSB DATA PROCESSING MACHINE (Anytime)
The machines bcsb-cnx.als.lbl.gov and bcsb-nx.als.lbl.gov are used for remote data processing. These machines have HKL2000, mosflm, ccp4…etc. You can log on anytime to process data or test connectivity of your NX configuration from your network.

How to see recent connections in NX?
To see the settings for an existing connection, you can right-click on a connection icon and choose “Edit Connection” or “Show details”. We very strongly recommend that you delete existing connections and create them anew if you are having problems. This is especially the case if you are trying to connect to one of the ccd2 machines.
