What hardware do I need to support this camera config?
I'm sure questions like this get asked all the time, but I've searched around and couldn't really find much in the way of hard data, so I was hoping to poll the Reddit hivemind for some real world experiences.
Can I run BI/DS on laptop but control on desktop?
I am currently running Blue Iris and Deepstack on my main desktop. Was thinking about moving it over to a laptop but wanted to ask; can it run on a remote laptop computer but still be able to control/view through BI software from my desktop?

It is only a case of entering the internal IP address here. Once done and applied. Go back and repeat 1. This time even if a step fails in blue iris, try and access blue iris through the app locally, then externally . It should work.
What is the use case of cat bowls?
The use case is to monitor our cat bowls, I want to trigger motion in the whole room , but I want to easily be able to find videos where they are near the food bowls, to help us monitor which cat is eating. We have a cat who has kidney disease and I want to see overnight if he's eating his special food or if the other cats are just wolfing it down.

To connect remotely you would either need a VPN into the office from your phone or expose blue iris publicly to the internet. I highly recommend going the VPN route as exposing blue iris could lead to others trying to access it.
Does Annke work with BI v5?
We've installed new annke cameras in our new office and run them through BI v5. This is all well and fine. My boss got the blue iris iPhone app recently and I manually setup the server on his phone.
