How do I access the Cal State LA computer labs?
If you need to access software that is available in the Cal State LA computer labs, you can remotely connect to the lab computers using a Remote Access Tool. If you do not have access to the Internet from off-campus, please utilize the following resources.

Does Cal State have wireless access?
Wireless access to the Cal State LA network is widely available across campus, including most academic and administrative buildings, campus housing, and many public areas . Can you connect to Cal State LA?
Students, faculty, and staff can connect to the Cal State LA network from off campus through a secure virtual private network (SSL VPN). A VPN connection is required to access restricted campus resources from remote locations. Learn more »
How to connect to GlobalProtect?
Connect Using a Desktop or Laptop Computer 1 NAVIGATE to the following webpage: https://myvpn.calstatela.edu 2 When prompted for a username and password, LOG IN with your MyCalStateLA ID credentials. 3 DOWNLOAD and INSTALL the appropriate version of the GlobalProtect client software. 4 RUN the GlobalProtect application. 5 SELECT the Home tab. In the section labeled Portal, TYPE: myvpn.calstatela.edu 6 CLICK Connect. 7 When prompted for a username and password, LOG IN with your MyCalStateLA ID credentials.
Does off site computer pass through campus network?
While connected to the campus, all of the network data you generate from your off-site computer will pass through the campus network infrastructure.
Home Use License
If Home Use License is available click on the "Yes" link on the corresponding software title for instructions on how to get your Home Use License. For some software titles you may need to contact your faculty to get license information.
Remote Access (Labstats)
Labstats Remote Access Tool allows you to remotely connect to physical computers located in Cal State LA computer labs allowing to use all the software loaded on the campus computers. You can use Windows or Mac (requires downloading Microsoft Remote Desktop client from App Store) computers to connect remotely.
MyTools (Virtualized applications)
MyTools delivers software as an on-demand service to Cal State LA students, faculty, and staff. MyTools provides secure access to virtual instances of commonly used software from anywhere, at any time, using a computer, laptop, tablet, or other mobile devices with an internet connection.
Cloud (Vendor hosted)
Some software vendors have a cloud based option that allows you to run their software in the cloud remotely through your web browser or a standalone client. If a cloud based option is available please click on the "Yes" link in the corresponding software title row to access or register for the cloud based service.
