What are the buttons in Carepoint?

What are the three methods of communication in Carepoint?

2.1 Communications Controls and Indicators The CAREpoint system provides three methods of controlling or inputting information: Mouse A standard PC mouse is provided and can be used to control functions of the CAREpoint EMS Workstation. Typically the mouse is only used for off-line purposes. Keyboard A standard PC keyboard is provided and can be used for text entry or to control Windows functions. Typically the keyboard is rarely used during normal operation. Touch-Screen Monitor The CAREpoints touch screen monitor controls most functions of the CAREpoint EMS Workstation. Operation is simply by a gentle press in the displayed key or control. The touch screen is used for most CAREpoint functions.

What is the keypad used for in a standard telephone?

This region contains the keypad used to enter telephone numbers (as on a standard telephone) as well as to enter special instruction codes to the workstation (i.e.; Self test features, configuration access, etc.). Similar to standard telephone controls, there are also buttons for Autodial, Redial, Conference, Hold, and Flash.

How is logged data stored in a hospital?

Logged voice and data is stored on the internal hard drive and is backed up at scheduled intervals onto a CD for archiv ing. Another backup option is to utilize a shared network drive on the hospital system for back up. (Note: This requires a network connection, and related access settings.) In order to protect the logged information and settings, both D-Scribe and LogRecorder can be set for password-protected access or user authentication. LogRecorder is set for password protection by default. LogRecorder has two different modes, User and Administrator. The User mode is locked down and cannot perform all of the functions that LogRecorder has to offer. This is the mode that all users should be trained to logon to. The Administrator mode allows access to additional settings and tools. Only the system administrator should have this password.

Where is the task bar on a Carepoint?

The Task Bar, located at the bottom of the screen contains selection keys for CAREpoint functions that are NOT available on the Launch Panel. These keys unusually include third party applications as well as some CAREpoint applications. The contents of the Task Bar will vary, depending on the requirements of the installations.

Can I run D-scribe on a remote PC?

Note: In order to run D-Scribe desktop software on a remote PC, the PC must be multi-media (sound card/speakers) equipped and have Windows 98 or newer operating system. A network connection, and related access settings are required to assess D-Scribe information on the CAREpoint workstation from a remote PC.

What is Carepoint software update?

CAREpoint Software Updates are provided to customers with an active UltraCARE Support Plan (warranty/extended warranty) in place (where compatible). Automatic Updates are downloaded to the CAREpoint via the internet. Updates for units not covered by the UltraCARE Support Plan may be purchased for a fee. These updates contain fixes and new features. Updates are also sometimes installed during service on-site or via remote access.

What is remote service in GD Tech?

A remote service means is a must. The required remote service connection method is GoToAssist. This allows GD Tech Support to check diagnostic logs, upload/download configuration settings and update software. For GoToAssist, the CAREpoint comes preinstalled with the GoToAssist software. As long as the hospital IT department does not block access to the GoToAssist servers, this can be used. Failure to provide remote access will greatly limit support capabilities, lengthen repair time and will increase UltraCARE Support Plan costs.

Can I access a website through InfoManager?

Yes, assuming that Internet access is provided. We suggest accessing web pages via links imported into InfoManager. InfoManager uses the Internet Explorer engine but keeps the browser very clean and simple and prevents the user from manually entering in website addresses. Only the preloaded links can be accessed. There is also a configurable button on the CAREpoint GUI that can be used if use of IE is needed.

Can Carepoint be used on Windows 10?

Generally, the CAREpoint Desktop Applications will install and run on most any Windows PC. Windows 7 and 10 are fully supported. There are no special speed or memory requirements. A sound card and speakers are required for listening to calls with D-Scribe or RemoteMonitor.

Do Carepoints have to be on the network?

The short answer is YES. Does CAREpoint absolutely have to be on the network? No, but functionality and serviceability will be greatly reduced if it is not. If the installation contains multiple CAREpoint Workstations (positions), they must be networked together. If multiple CAREpoints are to be installed on hospital network, they MUST also be on the same subnet. If there are multiple CAREpoints and they are not going to be installed on the hospital network, they need to be connected together via a simple network switch.

Does Carepoint have Windows Defender?

The CAREpoint is shipped with Windows Defender anti-virus software by default. Recognizing that each customer has a preferred anti-virus application, Windows Defender can be disabled and the customer’s preferred anti-virus software can be installed during initial installation at the hospital. We leave this up to the customer’s IT/IS department to install and maintain. We do however require that you first check with GD Tech-Support department to check/test compatibility before loading 3rd party software. GD Tech Support will assist with the configuration of the 3rd party anti-virus software.

Does Carepoint sync with GD?

GD recommends that the CAREpoint be setup to sync to a network time server at your hospital. This will keep the time accurate for when the ED staff is taking an EMS call as they generally let EMS know the time they were contacted. Also, e-Bridge Telemedicine App uses a secure HTTPS connection that requires the time to be accurate for communications with the GD Server.
