How does the Chesapeake Circuit Court work?
The Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake is a Court of general jurisdiction served by five (5) judges. The Court hears criminal and civil cases including divorce cases. The Court also hears appeals from decisions of the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is pleased to offer to the internet community, secure and remote access to many of the documents physically maintained in the Clerk's Office. Access to these documents and records is by paid subscription only.

Effective July 20, 2020, the Circuit Court docket is opening to criminal bench trials, if a hearing request form is submitted timely, and the docket allows.
How many phases are there in the Supreme Court?
This Order of Operation of the Court is divided between two phases. Phase One is while all cases except those identified by the Supreme Court's order have been automatically continued (currently through June 7, 2020).
