Can I use CSCs support remotely?
CSCS support staff are able to remotely support computers and users as usual. We will do our best to assist home workers using their own equipment as well. SDHS Citrix and Transfer servers are working normally.
How can I access Michigan Medicine resources on my computer?
To access internal Michigan Medicine resources, we recommend using our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service. For more details on what support is offered for personal computers please read our michmed.org/byod page. At a minimum, your internet plan should run at 5 mbps download and 1 mbps upload.
How do I contact Michigan Medicine for help with remote support?
If you still need additional help the HITS Service Desk can offer remote support. Visit the Michigan Medicine Help Center and click the bubble on the bottom right to chat with a Virtual Agent. and mention that you are remote.
Can I remotely access core Windows from a personal computer?
Alternatively, you may request to remotely access an on-site Core Windows device from a personal computer, including any files and applications on that device. You are not able to save documents to local drives or access printers from within MiChart on a personal device. Note: WVD does not provide access to video visits or Jabber.

All manufacturers are currently experiencing delays computing equipment and peripherals that is delaying computer orders. However we can continue to purchase laptops, computers, monitors and peripherals. CSCS have stock of laptops that are available for quicker delivery.
How many users does Citrix support?
Citrix. Citrix is available on a subscription basis. Although simple to use, Citrix only supports 70 users at any time, meaning it is not suitable for a business continuity event. If you are already using Citrix, we recommend also preparing to use another method.
Is Medschl free with VPN?
VPN. The VPN is free to use and available to all Medschl, Biosci and SLCU users. We have recently increased the capacity from 500 to 4000 connections, and have temporarily removed the need to apply to use this service – it is now available for all users by default .
How to check if you have remote access?
How to check you are enabled for Remote Desktop Access. Click the Start button ( ) and type Remote Desktop Settings; then click on it when it appears in the start menu. In the window that opens scroll down to the bottom and click on "Select users that can remotely access this PC":
How to connect to a computer with RDC enabled?
Note your computer in the office must be switched on. If you forgot to switch on your office computer before you left the office, try calling a colleague and have them switch on the computer for you.
Can CSCS remotely access my computer?
Someone will need to switch on your computer. before you can access it again. Although CSCS are sometimes able to do this remotely ( via Wake-on-LAN), this cannot be guaranteed. Thus a colleague or a custodian may need to visit your on site computer in person, and physically switch it on via the computer's power button.
What is NAS in Michigan Medicine?
Network Attached Storage (NAS) is space commonly referred to as the Home Directory or "H: drive" and Shared Drives or "S and T." To access it remotely, login to the Michigan Medicine VPN and map the drive (link is external) if you are on a Michigan Medicine managed workstation. If you're using a personal device , we recommend using our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service which will automatically connect to your H, S, and T drives.

What is an intelligent hub?
Intelligent Hub is required for any personally owned mobile device in order to access Exchange email natively, use Epic Haiku/Canto mobile applications to access MiChart, and connect to the secure Michigan Medicine WiFi network.
Can Michigan Medicine employees telework?
This section covers the basic technical access most Michigan Medicine employees need to telework. Certain jobs may require specialized access. If in doubt, consult your manager or department representative.
Can you take a laptop offsite at Michigan Medicine?
Michigan Medicine managed laptops and related peripherals (e.g., keyboard, mouse, docking station) can be taken offsite. Do not remove external monitors or desktop/tower computers without approval. Desktop computers will not work offsite without special setup due to no VPN or WiFi card. Tablets and cell phones can be useful but are not adequate standalone equipment for working remotely.
