Connect to your Office Computer using the COE Remote Desktop Gateway
Our Remote Desktop Gateway service allows you to securely connect to a College of Engineering Windows workstation from anywhere you have Internet access and an appropriate Remote Desktop client.

Where is COE VDI hosted?
Each COE-VDI session is hosted on our VMware Horizon data center servers and provides the operating system and all necessary software as part of the desktop environment. Each session is created on-demand and provides a clean workstation environment for each user when they log on.
What is COE VDI?
COE-VDI is a Virtualized Desktop Infrastructure. Using VMWare Horizon software, it provides a flexible Windows Desktop experience for students enrolled in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington Seattle Campus.
Is access enabled for all students in the College of Engineering?
Access is enabled by default for all College of Engineering Students. Faculty or students needing access to additional applications or desktop pools should contact the COE-VDI help desk (you must use a UW or Gmail email address).
Can you use COE VDI on campus?
Using a variety of different devices, COE-VDI may be accessed both on and off campus. Logging in with your UW NetID, you may access the COE-VDI VM pools by using either the VMware Horizon Client, or the COE-VDI webpage. As our GPU licenses are limited, we ask that students default to using the "COE Lab" VM pool. The addition of a GPU marks the only difference between the pools, otherwise they are identical.

How many seats are there in Academic Surge 1044?
With additional licensing and hardware, we are now able to offer 30 seats on a 24-hour basis, in addition to the seats reserved for class times in the labs. As before, all lab seats will be available remotely when the labs are not in session (after 8PM weekday evenings and weekends), but you will be able to use the labs anytime through this new program.

Which is the most secure method to use for DUO?
The preferred method is to use the Engineering “Gateway”. It is the most secure method and should give the best performance, but it requires a mobile device that is pre-registered with DUO.
