How does remote access work at CSDE?
CSDE maintains Microsoft Windows Servers for general use computing through remote access. These permit anyone with a CSDE Windows Network account to sign into our file servers, access datasets, and run statistical software from anywhere in the world on a familiar Windows desktop environment.
How do I access csscr Remote Desktop?
CSSCR currently operates two Remote Desktop servers: CSSCR-TS1 is a Windows Server 2012 R2 terminal server oriented toward general desktop computing and qualitative analysis. Eligible users can obtain an account and log into CSSCR-TS1 using a Remote Desktop Connection from any computer.
How do I use Remote Desktop Access to access administrative systems?
If you have a managed workstation computer available at work, you can use Remote Desktop Access with an approved, secure VPN to connect to your work computer, and then you can access UW administrative systems in the usual way. We will do our assignments in R. Use an Internet-connected computer provisioned with the latest versions of R, 1 RStudio Desktop, and the latest versions of a number of R packages.

Class meetings

Computing
All computing for this course should be done on CSDE Terminal Servers (TS). Those students that already have TS access (e.g., CSDE trainees) should be able to use their existing TS1, TS2, or TS3 accounts, but are encouraged to use TS4 for this course so that we will all be using the same environment.
