When you login for the first time on the CSE IN system you will need to change your password. You should select a password that is not easily guessed by others. If you choose a password that is easily guessed, your account may become locked during the course of the semester and you will need to have the managers reset your account.

Home Directory

Only the files that are saved in your home directory on the CSE IN system are permanent. Files that are saved locally on individual workstations are not under the control of the CSE IN system and will be deleted periodically. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you are saving your work to you home directory.

Account Backup

Your accounts are backed up hourly, daily, and weekly. If you need to recover a file that you deleted, ask a TA or your instructor for assistance.
