How do I request remote access to Curtin's computer labs?
VMware Horizon Remote access to Curtin computer labs is available for approved course units. To request access to software required for your enrolled units, please visit Oasis and click on -Remote Access Request-. Note: To access all of the remote computer labs, you MUST install the VMware Horizon Client from below.
How does Curtin protect my data?
Any time you connect to Curtin systems such as your workstation back at the office, or a Curtin network drive (J: or R:), all of this data is encrypted. Additionally, any website you visit at home will be protected by another layer of security, instantly blocking any malicious website that may be harmful to your device.
Can I use my Curtin mobile as a Personal Hotspot?
Curtin will allow staff who have no home internet to use their Curtin mobile as a personal hotspot for Curtin related business. Be advised using your mobile may incur increased data charges to your faculty/area if you go over data limits. Therefore this option should be used as a last resort.
How many Adobe Creative Cloud installations can a Curtin staff member have?
The number of installations a staff member is permitted to have, is a maximum of two (2).
How to secure your personal devices?
Ensure your mobile devices are adequately password protected. Secure your personal devices with a password, PIN, passcode, touch-ID, or Face-ID.
Does Curtin track software licenses?
Please be advised that Curtin must correctly track our software licenses. Otherwise, we could breach our software licensing agreements, resulting in significant costs or audit fines.
Does Curtin offer free software?
Curtin has a range of agreements to provide software to students for free, or at a discounted price (including NVIVO, Matlab, Bentley, Microsoft Office) These agreements may also include using the software on your personal computer. “ Home Use Licences ” are only available to currently enrolled students.
Can Curtin software be uninstalled?
Be advised that if installed on Curtin computers, the software may be automatically uninstalled once you return to Curtin. This will ensure we stay legally compliant to vendor licensing agreements.
Is Curtin email active?
Curtin Staff email is available for university staff and associates. It is not active by default. New staff members and associates will have to activate their email account from Staff Portal. This quick reference guide will show you how to activate it.
