Can you use Malwarebytes on a CSU computer?
We’ve been advised by the cybersecurity company Malwarebytes that there may be unlicensed installations of their Malwarebytes anti-malware software on CSU-owned systems. Unless departments or units have purchased a valid license for Malwarebytes, it should be removed from all machines that are being used in support of university business. In addition, Malwarebytes should not be registered on any computer using an @colostate.edu email address unless a license has been purchased.
Does CSU have an antivirus?
For Personally Owned Computers: CSU does not centrally support an antivirus client for faculty, staff or students to use on personal devices. Microsoft’s free version for Windows Vista and 7 is called Microsoft Security Essentials; Windows 8 and 10 have a built-in antivirus component called Defender. For Mac OS, there are good-quality free products such as ClamAV and Sophos.
