I think it is limited to what you can do but one of the things is to assign an IP address. Then you can plug a cable into it and manage it from a web browser.

The iDRAC won't cause the fans to go at full speed, it doesn't have any control over them (that I'm aware of anyway). The CPU fans should be controlled by the power management of the BIOS.
