Emby works great over my home network but try remote access, no chance. it finds my server using my phone on 4g but will not access,were unable to connect to the selected server right now, please ensure it's running. Where is the Emby server address?
To locate your server's internal address, simply open the Emby Server Dashboard on the Emby Server machine, typically http://localhost:8096
How to test your external address?
The easiest way to test your external address, is to open it in a web browser while away from home, or inside your home using a smart phone or tablet with the WIFI connection turned off.
Can you use VPN on Emby?
If you're still unable to connect to your Emby server try turning off any VPN software running on any client or server in your home network.
Can you connect to Emby on your home network?
Most Emby apps can automatically discover your Emby Server on your home network, so in those cases, there's nothing more you need to do. But in the event this does not work, you can still connect to your Emby Server by manually entering the server's address.
Can you connect to Emby from an external address?
If the external address works in a browser, then you're good to go, and can proceed with connecting from Emby apps.

Have been trying to get remote access to my Emby server going. Everything working fine on the local network, and as I read the connectivity instructions, it seems you just need to sign in with Emby Connect on the remote device (IOS). I do this, and my server is listed, but it always says connection failure when I try to connect.

Hi, no Emby Connect doesn't circumvent the firewall, so you will still need to open ports. You can learn how to do that in our Connections Guide. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !

Quick update - yes port forwarding got it all going. Quick related question though, how do I get https on port 8920 working? That is not working at all, not even on the local LAN.

I'm new to this using an old Dell laptop and QNAP 4 bay TR-004 as storage. Emby connect works great in the network but outside the network I get connection failure on all devices. Port has been forwarded as instructed. I think I do not understand the concept of Emby Connect.

I've installed Emby Server on my PC and set up the libraries. I'm able to login to the emby account on the android phones connected to the same wifi as the PC. I want to be able to access my content when I'm out, but whenever I type the remote access IP into any browser or try to use the Emby App to connect, I get " This site can't be reached.

I've read the connectivity article and the first step it tells me to try is Emby Connect, but that fails with similar error messages to the ones I've posted. It doesn't clearly tell me how to turn on Remote Access, but I am seeing a Remote (WAN) Access IP on the dashboard, so I'm assuming it's enabled.

I copied the IP address and went to my router's settings and looked for NAT. This is the only place I could find mentioning NAT

I used ipconfig /all to find my local ipv4 was 192.168.29.51, so it's already what I've set as the IP for my ethernet adapter. I've deleted the public IP from the port forward section of my router. I've also already opened the ports 8096 and 8920 for 192.168.29.51 as seen in the 4th screen.
