How do I access Emby server outside of my Home Network?

Emby Server allows you to optionally connect outside your home network. Before we begin, make sure you can connect to your Emby Server properly with apps and devices on your local network. If you have any issues with connections in your network check out local connectivity article. The first step is to enable remote access.

What ports does Emby use?

8096 and 8920 are the default ports Emby ALWAYS LISTENS on internally. However you can most any other available port for the non-SSL port and the SSL port. By convention on web pages ports 80 and 443 are used. If you do not have other web servers running on your network you may setup Emby Server using ports 80 and 443 for remote use.

How do I enable UPnP on my router for Emby?

Note: Most routers have the UPnP option turned off by default. If you turn on automatic port mapping in Emby Server (option shown above) and enable UPnP on your router you likely are done and Emby will work remotely! Note: If you just enabled UPnP on your router, please restart Emby Server.

I ve two router on my local, 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.3.1, the xxx.xxx.1.1 is the ISP modem wired to xxx.xxx.3.1 which is a linksys 3200 running DDWRT firmware and open vpn client who provide the service to all my lan/wlan devices connected to the 192.168.3.1/xx including my home server which is behind that too and.....

You have a couple of options. I take it you mean that you have an OpenVPN server on your DDWRT router? Are you able to connect to that from outside your LAN? If so, you could just do that, and then use Emby. It would definitely be a more secure option.

I'm pretty sure they support it, you probably just have to log on and set up a port forward similar to what you do with your routers.
