Where can I find training resources for Epic?

Training resources for Epic are made available to those with Stanford SUNet IDs: Haiku is a mobile version of Epic. Its features are limited but it can be very useful if used correctly. In depth instructions can be found on MedWiki:HITEC.

Do I need to go through Epic for interpreter services?

Requests for interpreter services must now go through Epic. Please review the new workflow processes for the services here. If your study involves administration of medications, lab draws and other diagnostic tests you may consider the creation of an orderset in Epic EMR.

When is the last day to request access to LPCH epic?

The last day we will accept requests for Monitor or Research Staff access to LPCH Epic in 2021, will be Thursday, December 13th, 2021. Requests received between December 14, 2021 and January 2, 2022 will not be processed until after Winter Closure.

Almost any order you can enter on Epic can be entered on Haiku. You can even place orders for outpatients. In some cases you simply need to save a customized order on Epic to allow you to place that order on Haiku.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a remote access technology that creates a private encrypted connection over the Internet between a single host and Stanford's private network, SUNet.

Does Stanford University use VPN?

Many secure servers within the Stanford University network do require the use of VPN. There is no published list of these servers, but it is easy to quickly determine whether the server/system you are attempting to connect to requires VPN with this simple test: try performing daily duties without the VPN enabled.
