What type of VPN does EWU use?

EWU's VPN utilizes what is called a split-tunnel.Any traffic not destined for an EWU hosted services is not passed over the VPN. For example, your email is sent directly to/from Microsoft Office 365 and never passes over the VPN. If you need VPN to access an EWU service, here are the installation instructions for GlobalProtect VPN:

What kind of software is available at EWU?

EWU Provides Standard Up to date software for Faculty, Staff and Students to use on faculty, staff and lab and classroom computers. Some software, including Microsoft Office 365, is available to install on your personal computer. Adobe Creative Cloud is available in our classrooms and labs, including the Virtual Lab.

How do I log in to my EWU account?

Log in with your EWU NetID (e.g. user1. Do not include DOMAIN\). For example, if your username is swoop, enter swoop only. Do not enter your full EWU email address!

Virtual Labs is a browser-based virtual lab that lets faculty and students access the applications they need from anywhere, including classrooms, the library, and at home. Virtual Labs offers a variety of academic software programs, including ArcGIS, MATLAB, Mathematica, Minitab, SAS, SPSS, Stata, and more.

Virtual Labs Login

Please use your EWU NetID (not your full email address) and Single Sign On (SSO) password when logging into Virtual Labs.

Getting Started

You can connect to Virtual Labs from any location and with any device including Chromebooks, Android and Apple tablets. Make sure to use an up-to-date, HTML5-capable web browser. Supported browsers include the following Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.

A virtual private network (VPN) extends the campus network across the Internet, and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the campus network.

Instructional Technology and Webservices will be working remotely until further notice. However, we will continue to provide full support through Zoom, email and help desk tickets, as well as by phone. Here are the available support options in order of preference:

Getting Started - Virtual Labs 2.0

Virtual Labs 2.0 (AppStream) is a browser-based virtual lab that lets students access the applications they need from anywhere, including classrooms, the library, and at home. A variety of academic software programs including MATLAB, Mathematica, SPSS, Stata, and more are available to use with no download required.

Logging In

Open a supported browser of your choice. To see a list of supported browsers, view the Requirements for Virtual Labs 2.0.
