What is BridgePay?

BridgePay is both a gateway and a virtual terminal. The gateway allows you to take payments through your website; essentially, gateways are the “credit card machines” of the internet. A virtual terminal is a web-based payment form that allows you to enter payment details on behalf of your customer. It’s ideal for situations like mail orders and telephone orders. The virtual terminal still utilizes the BridgePay gateway, so we’ll refer to the gateway through the rest of this overview.

What companies use BridgePay?

BridgePay works with major processing companies such as First Data, TSYS, Mercury, Chase Paymentech, Vantiv, WorldPay, Heartland Payments, Elavon, Global Payments, and more. ( A full list of providers is available at the BridgePay website.) That means that almost any processing company will be able to use BridgePay. And with that, you’ll be able to accept a variety of payment types for online transactions, including credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and JCB), PIN-based debit, EBT cards, gift cards, checks, and Level II and Level III transactions, such as government and corporate purchase cards.

What is BridgePay compatible with?

BridgePay is compatible with several major hardware brands, including Magtek, Ingenico, IDTech, and more. A Magtek USB reader for EMV chip cards can allow you to swipe magnetic strip cards or dip EMV cards even when using a virtual terminal, which may help you take advantage of lower card-present rates in some situations.

MyBridgePay’s reporting options also allow merchants to view history, search transactions, or view an activity monitor to see current open transactions, unsettled transactions, and more.

Does Ambur use BridgePay?

The Ambur POS uses the BridgePay gateway, so if you’re looking to use that particular POS system, you’ll need a BridgePay gateway.
