Remote Computer Access for MyFIU

Access our computers remotely with an internet connection using your MyFIU account. Easily use any of our apps and software, just like you would in our labs on campus.

Things to know before using remote desktop connection

Use the following format to login: Username: panther\MyFIUusername Password: Your MyFIU Password Please note that your MyFIU username is your FIU email without @fiu.edu. Need to reset your password? Click here to reset it!

Can Citrix work with EIC?

It is strongly recommended that you utilize the Citrix client, as not all EIC Apps work on the Web Interface. More! USER NOTE: If the application asks you how many cores you would like to select, please do not choose more than two cores, as it will prevent it from running.

Can you access AutoCAD from the FIU network?

Did you know that you could access your engineering applications such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Office, and others from any secure Internet connection? If you have never logged into EIC APPS, you will need to install the appropriate client to access your data from the FIU network.

What is the Engineering Information Center?

The Engineering Information Center serves the teaching, learning, research and academic communities of the College of Engineering and Computing at the Engineering Center , located at 10555 W. How to register for a CEC account?

If you need to register for a CEC account, please fill out the New Account Registration Form once you have your FIU e-mail, to access all the EIC’s programs. Your username will be the fist part of your FIU e-mail (without the @fiu.edu) and the default password will be emailed to you. You must change the default password when your account is first created by clicking here.

What is a CEC account?

Your CEC (Novell) account will allow you to work in any of the 6 instructional computers labs and 2 open labs at the Engineering Center as well as the ability to login remotely. Our state-of-the-art computer labs come well equipped with any application you may need for your CEC courses.

How to access Citrix?

Citrix can be accessed by downloading their client to your computer or via their web interface. It is strongly recommended to use the Citrix client, as not all apps work on the web interface. For more information on how to setup your own Citrix client, please visit our page here for instructions.

What is Engineering Information Center?

The Engineering Information Center provides Help Desk Services to our Engineering and Computing community. In order for you to be able to log into the Help Desk you will need to have a CEC (Novell) account.

Can you access shared drives remotely?

Shared drives are able to be accessed once you’re logged in to any EIC computer by default . You can also access your shared drives remotely via web browser or Citrix Apps. For more information on how to access shared drives remotely, click here.

Using EIC Citrix Portal

This service will allow you to map every single network drive that you have been granted access to (including your H: drive). See “How to login to EICApps” for more details.

Using Internet Browser

Go to https://netstorage.eng.fiu.edu/ and enter your EIC Username and Password. This portal will show your account mappings, including the H: drive. This application allows all file operations (move, delete, rename, etc.) except downloading and uploading folders. Please note that files can still be downloaded and uploaded, but not folders.
