How long can a FMC pump be stored?

FMC pumps come from the factory without crankcase oiland are prepared for storage periods of up to six months in proper environmental conditions. Indoor storage in a dry, temperature-controlled location is always recommended. If pumps are to be stored short term (less than six months) in a severe environment, they should be prepared using the procedures outlined in the "Short Term Storage for Severe Environments," Section 3.2 below. If the pump is to be stored, or is inactive, for periods in excess of six months, it is necessary to prepare the pump as outlined in the "Long Term Storage," Section 3.3. Remember that any fluid that poses an environmental hazard or is toxic must be handled and disposed of properly.

How to minimize friction losses downstream?

Use the same pipe size as the outlet of the pump. In installations where the discharge piping is in excess of 50 feet (15 meters), FMC suggests using the next larger size pipe to minimize friction losses downstream.
