Is there a fix for Cradlepoint not connecting to modem?

The fix/workaround is to use a USB extension to put some distance between the Cradlepoint and the cellular modem. This drove me crazy before I found a post of someone else having the problem and what the solution was.

Why be bound by 4G data limits? Even if you had a 25 Gig plan most places would burn through that in a day or two. Some would in an hour or two. Maybe for an office of one user. 4G as a primary connection is a last resort, and marginal as a backup connection.
