BIOS Level Access to System
At launch it is not possible to access anything at the BIOS level for the system you are connecting to. If a message such as F1 to continue/F2 to run system setup (onscreen error message) appears on the computer you are attempting to connect to a specialized message appears.
Network Connection
If the customer is experiencing network connection problems during setup, ensure the network cable is connected to the RJ-45 connector on the remote access host card as well as the primary RJ-45 connector on the Precision R5400 system.
Device Detection
When the remote access host card is installed in the host system, Precision R5400, it is completely undetected by the operating system. There are no visible signs of it in the Device Manager. This also means that no drivers are required for installation.
Vista 64-bit and No Audio
Customers wanting Vista 64-bit operating system need to download the latest host card and portal firmware from Dell support. Vista 64-bit is shipped with audio disabled from the factory. There is no plan at this time to factory install this update. If using the Remote Access Host Card on a system with Vista 64-bit (i.e.
Audio Diagnostics
Audio problems with the portal can also be troubleshot from the management computer by accessing the web interface. Once logged into the web interface navigate to the Diagnostics > Audio screen. Click the Start button to begin the test. The test emits audio from speakers or headphones attached to the portal.
Video Diagnostics
Through the portal web interface it is possible to run a diagnostic on the display. Navigate to the Diagnostics < Display screen and click the Start button to begin the test and Stop to end it.
