Guides for connecting to CIS Linux labs are hosted and maintained on the HPC Support team’s knowledge base and service desk.
CIS Computing Labs – VPN
Grand Valley’s university IT team provides VPN (Virtual Private Network) computing services to students. VPN services allow users off-campus to connect securely to some University computing resources as if the student were on campus.
Connecting from Windows 10
If you are not on campus, make sure you're connected via GVSU's VPN: Pulse Secure.
Connecting from macOS
If you are not on campus, make sure you're connected via GVSU's VPN: Pulse Secure.
Using the GNOME Desktop
Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the GNOME desktop environment. You can access applications and the file system from the Activities menu at the top-left.
Logging Out
When you're ready to end your session, click the Power icon (⏻) in the top right corner, and choose Power Off / Log Out > Log Out.
How to sign in to GVSU?
Sign in with your GVSU username (adding "@office" for faculty/staff, or "@student" for students) and password
How to log out of SRATUS?
When you are done with SRATUS, logout using the Windows icon in the lower left corner. Click the user icon, and click sign out.
What is a STRATUS?
STRATUS is a remote desktop environment used for pre-approved classroom environments (predominantly in the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing) and university research.
Google Drive
GVSU students have unlimited Google Drive cloud storage via their GVSU Google account.

This table outlines the entire course schedule. Lecture notes are posted for each topic. Lecture videos, although not direct recordings of this semester's live lectures, cover the same topics and are beneficial if you are sick or do not feel comfortable attending in person. Minilab links will be added prior to the start of class.
