What is VPN remote access?

The Columbus State virtual private network ( VPN) provides remote employees with easy access to resources that are normally only available on-campus. These resources include network drives, campus printers, and select websites. The VPN also helps IT manage updates and technical support for your device.

Where is Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility?

Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client. This can be found in your Start menu (on Windows) or in the Applications folder (on Mac).

Why does my VPN disconnect?

For security purposes, your VPN session disconnects if you shut down your computer or it goes to sleep. Simply reconnect to create a new VPN session when you log in again.

Where is the VPN icon on my computer?

You will also see the VPN icon with a small lock on your taskbar (near the clock) when you are connected.

Does CSCC use VPN?

Yes. The VPN establishes a secure and private connection between your computer and the CSCC network through the internet. If working remotely, you must establish a connection to the internet before connecting through the VPN client.

Does Columbus State have a VPN?

The VPN is available for employees who have a Columbus State provided laptop (PC or Mac). It is not an option for students at this time; however, students (and employees) can access the Virtual Desktops (VMWare) if needed.
