How do I contact Michigan Medicine for help with remote support?

If you still need additional help the HITS Service Desk can offer remote support. Visit the Michigan Medicine Help Center and click the bubble on the bottom right to chat with a Virtual Agent. and mention that you are remote.

How can I access Michigan Medicine resources on my computer?

To access internal Michigan Medicine resources, we recommend using our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service. For more details on what support is offered for personal computers please read our michmed.org/byod page. At a minimum, your internet plan should run at 5 mbps download and 1 mbps upload.

How do I request a Windows Virtual Desktop?

To request a Windows Virtual Desktop, complete a Windows Virtual Desktop Request (link is external) . Alternatively, you may request to remotely access an on-site Core Windows device from a personal computer, including any files and applications on that device.

Can hits support staff have remote access to my computer?

Please note that by clicking on a technician's name, you agree to allow HITS support staff to have remote access to your computer for a single session. Please do not click on a technician's name without being instructed to do so first. This service may be down the first Thursday of each month from 6am - 7am for maintenance.

What is Windows Virtual Desktop?

Windows Virtual Desktop provides authorized users with access to a streamlined set of tools and services (including MiChart), available using any device, any browser, and without the need for VPN.

What is NAS in Michigan Medicine?

Network Attached Storage (NAS) is space commonly referred to as the Home Directory or "H: drive" and Shared Drives or "S and T." To access it remotely, login to the Michigan Medicine VPN and map the drive (link is external) if you are on a Michigan Medicine managed workstation. If you're using a personal device , we recommend using our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service which will automatically connect to your H, S, and T drives.

Intelligent Hub is required for any personally owned mobile device in order to access Exchange email natively, use Epic Haiku/Canto mobile applications to access MiChart, and connect to the secure Michigan Medicine WiFi network.

Can you forward a U-M phone to a non-UM phone?

The ability to forward a U-M phone to a non-UM phone number was activated temporarily. Providing an alternative contact number in your Michigan Medicine voice mail greeting is a preferred alternative to call forwarding.
