Where can I find the IU Health Library?
Contact IU Health Library at Methodist Hospital, 1801 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202, 317-962-0872 or email. The IU Health Library serves IU Health, and the Ruth Lilly Medical Library serves IU School of Medicine faculty, staff, and students.
How do I get access to library resources?
Access to library resources is granted when one’s status is Enrolled. Enrollment status usually occurs on the first day of class and is determined by UITS. Contact the Ruth Lilly Medical Library’s Content Management & Delivery Services Department at 317-274-7184.
What is an IU VPN connection?
Establishing an IU VPN connection creates a secure tunnel between your off-campus computer or mobile device and the IU network, allowing you to access online services and resources that are configured to refuse connections from outside the IU network (such as IU Print queues, certain library databases, and most network storage devices).
How do faculty and instructors request titles from the libraries?
Faculty and instructors may request titles for purchase by the Libraries via the Kanopy Streaming Video site. Priority access will be given to faculty and instructors for class use.
Online Streaming Video Databases
CAS authorization is required to access streaming titles listed in the left-hand column . Access is granted to those with a valid IU username and passphrase.
Access Instructions
For IUB subscription-based databases, you must log in with a valid IU username and passphrase. To create playlists within certain databases, you must create a separate password not affiliated with IU.
Nexus Lab
The Nexus is the collaborative learning lab at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library. The concept behind the Nexus is a space where students, faculty, and staff can come together to share ideas and collaborate on projects.
Classes
Librarians can teach a variety of classes based on the needs of IUSM students, faculty, or staff. Faculty may contact their Department Liaisons about developing a class tailored to a specialty, curriculum, or research assignment.

Does Ruth Lilly have a VPN?
Some of the Ruth Lilly Medical Library’s mobile apps require periodic logins from an IU School of Medicine wireless network or the VPN in order to continue using the app on your mobile device.
Can alumni get IU network ID?
Alumni are not able to obtain an IU network ID and passphrase that allows for access to Ruth Lilly Medical Library resources due to licensing and copyright restrictions.
Overview
A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to temporarily create or join a private network across an existing public network by creating an encrypted tunnel between two hosts. The encryption protects the data your computer or mobile device transmits and receives over the internet, enabling secure remote access to restricted online resources.
VPN at IU
At Indiana University, UITS delivers a centrally managed, fault-tolerant SSL VPN service for use by all IU campuses.
Connect to the VPN
For the greatest reliability across the widest range of platforms and network configurations, UITS recommends using the Pulse Secure SSL VPN client (produced by Pulse Secure, LLC ), where available, to connect to IU's SSL VPN. The Pulse Secure client is the official replacement for the Junos Pulse client previously used at IU.
IU Groups VPN
IU's Groups VPN provides dedicated VPN IP space for teams needing to restrict remote access to their internal administrative environments.
