Accounts

The IT division provides several types of Accounts as well as support for all aspects of login and account access control including StrongID, LDAP, AD, account names, and related services.

Business Systems

The Business Systems Group (BSG) provides customer-oriented and strategic business systems solutions that contribute to the Lab’s operational efficiencies.

RMO provides a number of archiving and records management services, including the transfer, retrieval, and destruction of Laboratory records at no charge to the customer. This service includes consultation, boxing, transporting, processing, and indexing of research and development (R&D) records .

ScienceIT

Science IT is a joint effort of the Lab’s senior management and the IT Division to build and support a comprehensive IT support program to advance scientific research at the Lab.

What is LBL VPN?

LBL-VPN is a software-based VPN service. Employees wishing to use LBL-VPN must install VPN client software on their computer (s). The software is available, free of charge, from https://software.lbl.gov .

How does a VPN work?

VPNs work by establishing secure "tunnels" for the transfer of information. Because the data which passes through such tunnels is encrypted, it is protected from unauthorized access. Additionally, the VPN tunnel end-points (aka peers) authenticate with each other to prevent identity spoofing, and verify all received data to ensure that it has not been altered during transmission.

What is required to enter LBNL?

LBNL and the ALS require all users who enter or expect to enter any Lab site to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved exception in place . Users registering to get access to LBNL will be asked to fill out a COVID questionnaire and will have the opportunity to upload their vaccine card. Please review the LBNL COVID status and ALS COVID-19 information.

What time does the ALS office open?

During office hours, Monday through Friday, 8am-12pm & 1pm to 4pm: Go to the ALS User Services Office on the second floor of the ALS (Building 6) to complete registration and obtain your LBNL ID badge.

What is update profile in ALShub?

Update your user profile in ALSHub to tell us when you will arrive at LBNL (which is not necessarily your experiment start date). The User Office will send your updated profile to the Berkeley Lab Shared Services Office

How to contact LBNL?

Once you have a LBNL email address, you can contact the Privileges Desk or you can contact the LBNL library, 510.486.5621 or at library@lbl.gov. .We will contact the UCB Privileges Desk by the next business day to get the email address added to your UCB account.

Where to return books to LBNL?

To return your books, please bring them to the LBNL Library in 50-4030; 54-002, or any campus library.

How long does it take to set up an email address for LBNL?

Keep in mind that it generally takes up to 24 hours to set up a LBNL email address. The UCB Privileges Desk is open 9am-4:45 pm M-F so we can only get an email address added during those times.

How to get an email address for Doe Library?

The quickest would be to either go to the Doe Library Privileges Desk or call 510-642-3403 (preferable) to provide an active email address. Your account will become active and you will be able to check out books.

How many times can you renew LBNL?

For items with a month checkout, you can renew up to 11 times, for a total of one year, before you need to return the item to the LBNL Library, which you can check out again if no one else has requested it.

What is the OskiCat link?

The "My OskiCat" link in OskiCat can provide a list of items you currently have checked out of the UC Berkeley Libraries. It is also the starting point for renewing materials. Please familiarize yourself with the circulation policies of each library from which you borrow.

How to log in to my oskicat?

To logon, go to the upper right hand corner of the page and select My OskiCat. This should take you to a Login to MyOskiCat page.
