What does MCW libraries do?
MCW Libraries provides high quality service to MCW faculty, students, and staff; Froedtert Hospital users; Children's Wisconsin users, and other users on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus. Some of our services are also available to local health professionals, for-profit companies, and the general public.
What happened to MCW libraries' proxy server?
MCW Libraries has transitioned from our proxy server to OpenAthens as its method of authentication. Links on the library webpages have been updated. If you were accustomed to using the Libraries' proxy bookmarklet, it will also cease functioning as of November 29.
Can I get remote access to the library?
Unfortunately, alumni do not qualify for remote access unless you have a current enrollment, employment or teaching affiliation with MCW. Alumni are always welcome to visit the Library in person. On-site users have full access to all resources.
How do I connect to MCW Libraries journal subscriptions?
Using PubMed LinkOut allows you to easily connect to MCW Libraries journal subscriptions. Look for the green "Get It From MCW Libraries" buttons. These buttons will either connect you to the article or link you to Library on Request.

Does Milwaukee School of Engineering allow borrowing?
The Medical College of Wisconsin and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) have a similar agreement and allow borrowing of materials by students and faculty of each respective institution. Each library issues borrowing privileges with a valid photo ID from the parent institution.
Can a reference librarian help with literature searches?
For a fee, reference librarians can assist with literature searches and training for our resources. With verification of status, you can get a free library card which entitles you to limited borrowing privileges of print library resources.
Is Todd Wehr Library open?
MCW Libraries is open to the public during staffed hours. Visitors to the Todd Wehr library can use the MCW wifi or library computers to access our electronic resources, and are welcome to browse our collection of print materials. How to get MCW library links?
Go to Settings by clicking the hamburger menu/three-line menu link in the top-left corner of the screen. Choose settings. Click "Library links" in the left-side menu. Check the box next to it when it appears in a list. When you run searches in Scholar, you should start seeing Get it from MCW Libraries links.
What is Citrix remotely?
Citrix: remotely access files saved in your MCW network drives (such as your H: drive) and launch applications to perform your work. For more information about using Citrix, visit InfoScope .*
Is MCW available on campus?
MCW Libraries resources are available anytime, anywhere, and on any device. While on campus and using the MCW, Froedtert Staff or Children's Wisconsin staff network to access the internet, connecting to MCW Libraries subscription resources like databases and journals is seamless because the resources recognize your IP address.

Location doesn't matter when you've got reliable online tools to help you connect and collaborate with colleagues.

How do I connect to resources from off-campus?
While using an MCW, Froedtert Staff or CW Staff network to access the internet, connecting to MCW Libraries subscription resources like databases and journals is seamless. The resources recognize that you are on MCW computer's network and grants you access to the sites.
OpenAthens
If you are not on a campus network and you click a link to a subscription resource on the MCW Libraries' website, you may be asked to login to OpenAthens. This ensures that only those who are affiliated with MCW, Children's Wisconsin or Froedtert can get access to the resources that we subscribe to.
