However, the project appears to have been abandoned by the creators as the primary website hasn’t seen an update since 2010 and the SorceForge SVN repository hasn’t seen a commit since 2014.

Solution

Since this is a third-party library used within a fork of mediatomb and impacts multiple Linux distributions, it is up to each one to resolve the issues in their installation.
