Can I access the mgcf on-site?

On-site access to the MGCF in 175 Tan Hall is available with hi-res, large screen workstations in a comfortable computer room. Please acknowledge NIH S10OD023532 in publications using the MGCF and email us the reference.

What is the mgcf?

The MGCF was founded in 1990 with NIH funding and has since been supported through NIH, NSF and generous corporate sponsorship from Intel, Dell and others. We have 2 full-time scientists providing technical consulting on project feasibility, equipment and software use.

What is MGCF control switch?

The ControlSwitch System MGCF supports key VoLTE specifications, international SS7/IP signaling variants, IMS SIP, H.248 and Diameter signaling interfaces giving CSPs the ability to confidently implement their IMS/VoLTE networks. Its open architecture and ongoing conformance to evolving standards enables interoperability with IMS core platform vendors such as Mavenir Systems and Ericsson. In addition, the ControlSwitch System’s capability to leverage existing media gateways from other vendors such as Cisco, Huawei and AudioCodes helps CSPs looking to extend the life of their existing infrastructure investment.

What is MGCF in CSP?

The ControlSwitch System MGCF is designed to make this transformation to all-IP IMS seamless and cost effective with minimal disruption to a CSP’s existing network. It also has an integrated Breakout Gateway Control Function (BGCF) that allows it to determine the most optimal way to process calls that break out of the IMS network and terminate on the PSTN.

What compilers are used in MGCF?

All MGCF machines have gfortran, gcc, g77, g++, and java. These are all in your PATH but some special versions are in /usr/software. Look there for other compilers, libraries and parallel tools. You may need to adjust the PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH for specific tasks.

What is CCP4 in MGCF?

CCP4 is a collection of programs for macromolecular crystallography. It includes ccp4mg (a viewer), SHELX tools and Coot (Crystallographic Object-Oriented Toolkit). It is on the MGCF workstations (not Tiger). Before using CCP4, you must type: ccp4_setup to activate these programs for the current shell.

What are the machines in 175 Tan Hall?

The workstations in 175 Tan Hall are named: gravel, betty, wilma, stone, bambam, slate, lava, bronto, bobcat, lynx and the Kavli funded machines: energy and nano. These all share the same software with a few rare exceptions.

This software is installed on all GFE laptops prior to being provided to the user. Currently RESCUE GFE supports Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and MAC OSX.
