I received an email notification alerting me my REDCap access is set to expire. Do I need to request an extension?
When a user signs the REDCap User Agreement to initially gain access, they are automatically granted REDCap SSL VPN permission. REDCap SSL VPN permission is needed if you are accessing REDCap remotely by logging into the SSL VPN link at www.vpn.northwestern.edu . Notifications are sent out approximately one month prior to expiration.
I want to create a new project, how do I do that?
Only Project Owners can request new projects to be created for them. You will learn about all the duties of a Project Owner and system usage requirements in the REDCap New Project Owner Training Session. This training is completed on-line and will take approximately one (1) hour to complete.
I'm a Project Owner but do not see the "Create Project" button in REDCap, why?
Only those who have completed the REDCap New Project Owner Training can request projects to be created for them. You will not see the "Create Project" option in REDCap as only REDCap Support Admins have this permission.

The VPN does this by encrypting the internet traffic between the computer/laptop/tablet and the campus network. The user’s traffic appears to originate from within the Northwestern network. A VPN connection is an extension of the Northwestern Network and subject to the University's Appropriate Use of Electronic Resources Policy.
What is a VPN group?
Custom VPN Groups are for campus organizations that want access to specific resources or applications limited to a pre-defined set of users. This typically small set of users connect as a general VPN user with the VPN client on their device and are assigned a unique IP address from a group-specific block of addresses. Their traffic coming from the group IP block allows them access to the pre-defined resources and applications. These users also have access to all other applications or resources accessible using the General Use VPN.
Does a VPN require a separate application?
