How do I use NYU network Desktop?
Network Desktop is a remote method of connecting to a standard NYU Langone desktop. All your shared drives are also available on Network Desktop. Open a browser while connected to the internet from your remote location.

As needed for research purposes, users can be granted the ability to use public-key authentication for remote access.
Does Courant use ssh?
Courant has a couple of systems that a user can use to access a shell from outside of the CIMS network. The general access nodes for faculty, staff and most students, access.cims.nyu.edu, require the use of ssh and NYU MFA to connect. There is a separate system for students registered for classes in the CS Minors program.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) Access

Using Remote desktop
First verify with IT that your desktop office computer has been enabled for remote access. Once configured, your computer will need to stay on for you to connect from home (i.e. do not turn off your computer at the end of the day if you need to remote in later).
