Access your OctoPrint remotely
I thought I'd create a topic for safe ways of remotely accessing your OctoPrint installation when you're not at home.
Remote into a workstation at home
You might not know this, but many computers have the ability to allow you to remote-control them, even from outside of your network. The following describes how I've just setup my laptop (I'm here in a coffee shop) to remote back into a Mac Mini computer at home. I then merely access OctoPrint from that remote-control session.
Setup a Reverse-Proxy
A reverse-proxy is a type of proxy server that retrieves resources on behalf of a client from one or more servers. These resources are then returned to the client, appearing as if they originated from the proxy server itself.
Setup a VPN
A virtual private network extends a private network across a public network, and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network.
Supplies
To get started, you need a 3D printer with OctoPrint setup. If you need to set up OctoPrint, follow this guide.
Step 3: Click "Get More"
Click the button labeled "Get More" on the top right of the settings window.
Step 4: Install OctoEverywhere
In the search box type OctoEverywhere. Then click the blue install button next to the plugin listing.
Step 5: Restart OctoPrint
Wait for the plugin to install (this can take a while on some hardware) and then let OctoPrint restart. To restart OctoPrint, click the button labeled "Restart Now".
Step 6: Finish the OctoEverywhere Setup
When your OctoPrint restarts, open the OctoPrint settings again. In the left list select "OctoEverywhere!" and then complete the setup by clicking the button labeled "Finish Your Two Minute Setup Now!"
Step 7: Done!
You can now access your full OctoPrint web portal from anywhere on any device from OctoEverywhere.com!

It’s certainly more than just an app to monitor/control your printer, it’s a whole community of printers, designers and makers. The process of selecting an object, slicing and sending to your printer are streamlined into a simple workflow. The plugin is available here and is definitely worth checking out.
What is the easiest way to access printer instance?
Plugins (The Easy Way) Remote access via a plugin is certainly the easiest way for you to access your instance and control/monitor your printer. Unless you really know what you’re doing, this is very likely the method that you’re going to want to be using.
Can you access octoprint remotely?
All in all, there are many ways one can safely access an OctoPrint instance remotely, that do not involve blindly forwarding ports on your router and putting yourself at risk. Plugins are a fantastic tool that I recommend beginners take advantage of. Putting OctoPrint on the internet is nothing short of dangerous. If you must do this, take advantage of the ACL system built into OctoPrint, and even better, put another form of authentication in front. Even if it seems like extra work to setup a plugin, or a VPN/reverse proxy, it’s worth it. Anything with the potential to burn down your house should be treated with the utmost care. It may seem more convenient to cut corners… but is it really worth it?

Log into OctoPrint

Access the Plugin Manager
Click the settings icon in the top-right and then select "Plugin Manager". Then, click "Get More..."
Install the OctoPrint Anywhere plugin
Type "octoprint anywhere" into the search box and click "Install". It may take several minutes to download and install.
Register your printer
You'll need to create a free account and register your printer with OctoPrint Anywhere. To do this, click "Register my 3D printer on getanywhere.io ".
Rename your printer and enable Bandwidth Saving
After registering and creating your account, you will immediately see your printer feed. IT'S BLACK MAGIC, I SAY!

Ender 5 Pro Firmware Broken Error
So I've been using octoprint for about a week now without any issues. Connected my Ender 5 Pro via usb and it all worked fine. Now I plan on adding a Relay to power the printer. With this comes the small problem of the Pi trying to power the printer via USB. Because of this I taped up the 5V pin.
Printing from SD Card
when I copy a gcode file the an sd card and print it using octoprint, is that technically the same as if I choose the file from the printer LCD? I am asking, because I have severe stutter issues on my RPi 3B+ while printing over USB, and I want to debug this, see if it's a gcode, Octoprint, Firmware or USB problem.
Configuring OctoPrint to use RPi camera
I'm trying to configure OctoPrint on RPi 3B (not via OctoPi) and try to get camera to work. I verified HW works and /dev/video0 is present. However I cannot see any video or errors inside log (outside not finding pip). I cannot find information outside that 'it should be configured automatically'.
Should the Bed Visualizer plugin always run twice when getting the mesh?
Whenever I choose "Get current mesh" from within Bed Visualizer, it probes all 25 points of my bed....and then repeats it a second time.

Benefits of overclocking a raspberry Pi
So I am currently running octoprint on a raspberry pi 3B+, and I felt that octoprint runs a bit slower than I want it to. Would it benefit if I overclock the pi (with all the necessary cooling) from say 1.5GHz to 2.0GHz?
