How do I access the library's electronic resources remotely?

OHSU faculty, staff, and enrolled students who have an OHSU network username and password can use them to access the Library's electronic resources remotely. Affiliate faculty who do not have an OHSU network username and password may access Library's electronic resources remotely using a barcode.

Who can access the OHSU library?

License agreements between the OHSU Library and online content/software providers permit access for OHSU faculty, employees, and students and, for most resources, visitors to the Library’s Marquam Hill location in the Biomedical Information Communication Center (BICC) building.

What can I do remotely at OHSU?

Online resources can be defined as materials that have been conceived and created digitally or by converting analogue materials to a digital or online format. Online resource collections encompass resources that are hosted elsewhere, digital media files and born-digital resources. Online resources include journal collections, newspapers, electronic books, individual electronic journals and magazines, bibliographic indexes, directories and guides.

A. Students in this program are granted off-campus access under the same terms as any other OHSU student. As long as you are registered for classes you will receive access.

Can I take OIT classes off campus?

EZproxy is an access and authentication software that connects users to content they want. Users gain secure remote access to the Web-based, licensed content they discover in libraries.

Who can use EZproxy?

OHSU faculty, staff, and enrolled students who have an OHSU network username and password can use them to access the Library's electronic resources remotely.

Is EZproxy the only way to access e-resources?

Generally, you do not need to use EZproxy if you are connected to OHSU’s wireless network, or are using a computer located within the OHSU network or a Library workstation. However, a few resources always require EZproxy.

How do I connect to EZproxy?

There is no need to install or configure any software. There is no "Log in" button to click on either.

What is the OHSU library?

The OHSU Library provides PC workstations for use by OHSU faculty, staff, and students. The library also provides several PCs for the general public.

What services does the OHSU library offer?

Library services are available to people with disabilities, including access to print and electronic collections and the use of computers, printers, photocopiers and audiovisual equipment. Use of some of these services may require assistance. Prior contact with the liaison is encouraged when extensive assistance is anticipated and can be arranged by contacting the OHSU Library Service Desk at 503-494-3460 or by emailing library@ohsu.libanswers.com . Access to the Library's electronic resources, including the catalog, databases and electronic books and journals, is available to all library visitors. Library computers have a program installed called “Ease of Access” that includes settings that make it easier for people to see their computer and use the mouse and keyboard.

Where is the BICC library?

The Library in the BICC building is located on Sam Jackson Park Road west of the Hatfield Research Center and Emergency Room (building 9 on the campus map). Designated metered parking for people with disabilities is available on the top level of the parking structure opposite the Library building. Elevators, rest rooms, paging phones and most workstations in the BICC Library are wheelchair accessible. People needing assistance in accessing or operating copy machines or the compact shelving should ask for assistance at the Library Service Desk.

Does OHSU have a public workstation policy?

No, but all users must comply with the library 's Public Workstation Use Policy, OHSU's policy, Acceptable Use of Computing and Telecommunications Resources, and all other applicable OHSU and library policies.

Can you access the library remotely from OHSU?

OHSU faculty, staff, and enrolled students can access licensed Library's electronic resources remotely from off-campus computers. All you need is a valid OHSU network username and password.

Can you get off campus access to the OHSU library?

There isn't one. To get off campus access, all you need to do is start your research from the OHSU Library web site. No setups required.
