Even when working remotely, consider OSU's Appropriate Use policy as well as state and federal laws like FERPA and HIPAA . Look through this list of common tasks. Your needs may differ depending on the nature of your work. Your department's IT staff may have additional steps or resources available. Enable Remote Desktop on your work computer

What can I do with OSU's VPN?

When using OSU's VPN your traffic is sent through campus even when at home or another location. When away from campus using OSU's VPN is required for remote desktop and network drives. (VPN Required) Some editions of Windows 10 allow users to connect remotely. It allows you to use a computer as if you were sitting in front of it.

How do I forward a call or email to Oklahoma State?

If you use Outlook your OSU mail and calendar will also appear in Cowboy Mail .

Can I use Eduroam Wi-Fi in Oklahoma?

If you experience difficulties, call your ISP. If you are near another higher education institution, they may have ‘eduroam’ Wi-Fi. If they do, you can connect to their ‘eduroam’ Wi-Fi using your O-Key account. View the eduroam Wi-Fi map. Make sure you observe local emergency declarations like shelter in place, before leaving your residence.

Do OSU members get an email notification?

Be cautious of emails received while working from home. Confirm that messages from OSU members do NOT contain the "External Email" notification. The "External Email" notification will never appear on emails from OSU members. Also be wary of clicking any links contained in unsolicited emails. If you are unsure if an email is legitimate, please forward a copy to abuse@okstate.edu . We will check the email and respond as soon as possible.

How to access Okey email?

Outlook.com: You can go to https://cowboymail.okstate.edu and access your okey email by logging in with your normal OSU login. The interface may look a little strange at first, but it is an excellent tool that will allow you to check your email while off campus

What is OneDrive in OKstate?

OneDrive is an alternative for saving documents and serves the same purposes as your H: Drive. With OneDrive you can also share documents or folders with others within okstate, and you can allow them to read/write shared documents/folders.

When working outside the network it is critical to ensure whether you are using an OSU device or a personal device that any data you are handling is saved on to our secure network group shared drive or via OneDrive/SharePoint through Office 365.

Does OSU have malware?

OSU devices are deployed with malware and Antivirus software however, if you are using a personal device to connect to the OSU CHS network , we highly recommend you use an antivirus software.

Getting Started

The easiest way to access the Virtual Lab is through the web client, but has some limitations. Copying and pasting between the virtual lab computer and your device may not work. Files cannot be moved between systems either. Use the computer client if you need these advanced features.

The Duo MFA prompt will accept a numeric passcode from the Duo Mobile application installed on your phone. You may also request a Push, Phone Call or SMS text by typing an entry from the chart below into the Next Token Code field.
