Kodi (which OSMC is more or less an OS wrapper for) is a media player, and isn't really designed as a media server. It can share via uPNP, but that's not a good way of doing things.

OSMC has the .kodi directory in the following location: /home/osmc/.kodi/
advancedsettings.xml
The advancedsettings.xml file is used for configuration options that are not available via the GUI in Kodi. As the name implies, it is for advanced use. Normal users will NOT need to create/edit this file. In fact, there CAN be two advancedsettings.xml files.

Problem updating OSMC on Vero 4K
Hope you guys can help. I have a Vero 4K that doesn’t want to update. Trying to upgrade to V19, and it just won’t. Tried factory tweet through OSMC manual controls reset, but it only seems to delete add ons, and it doesn’t actually “start over”. SSH is not working. It says connection reset.
Emulators missing
I've installed the newest osmc on my pi 3b+ and after fixing the audio jack it seems working fine. I want to use the built-in kodi retroplayer to start roms with iagl, but the emulators don't show up as they would normally. Is there anyway to integrate them into osmc?
How to enable webserver?
The webserver is disabled by default and has to be manually enabled by the user. This can be done in Settings → Services → Control → Allow remote control via HTTP. The settings allow to specify a custom port number and an optional username and password for HTTP's Basic Access Authentication. Furthermore a Web interface can be chosen which will be used when accessing the webserver without any specific path.
Can you hide advanced settings in Kodi?
While using an advancedsettings.xml file might be easier to enable these services, doing so will hide them from the normal Kodi GUI. You will have to remove or edit the advancedsettings.xml file to turn these settings back off, which can be confusing later on if you forgot you have an advancedsettings.xml file.
