How do I set up remote access for library resources?
Remote access for library resources requires a valid Pitt username and password, plus a second method of verification through an app or phone line. Information on designating your second method of authentication can be found on the Multifactor Authentication at Pitt web page.

How do I get remote access to HSLS resources?
Remote access is provided via EZProxy using your valid @pitt.edu account. When clicking the link to the e-journal or database, a Pitt Passport login box will appear. Once logged in, access will be provided until the browser is closed. When connecting from the UPMC network, Pitt's remote access service provides access to most HSLS resources.

The convenience of the Virtual Desktop is that you can access it from any location, using almost any computer or mobile device, at any time of day. It's your personal 24/7, on-the-go solution. A list of titles is available.
How to launch Remote Desktop?
Launch Remote Desktop by navigating to the web client or opening the desktop client (e.g., double-click on the Remote Desktop icon or search for the program from the Start menu.) If you have never used the client before, the “Let’s Get Started” screen displays.
How to add a workspace to a remote desktop?
Follow the directions on the page to install the client and connect to Virtual Desktop. To add a workspace, in the Remote Desktop client select the Workspaces tab. Click the " + " sign and choose Add Workspace . Enter your <username @ pitt.edu> University email address, and click Add .
Access for Special Borrowers
Please note that library services for guests and special borrowers is limited at this time. Special Borrower Card holders may request books through PittCat and Ask Us about arranging a date/time for pickup! For Spring 2022, only Special Borrower account renewals are being processed. New accounts are not being issued.

While the ULS provides reasonable access to the collections for all categories of users, the ULS does make a distinction between access (library use) and borrowing (home use) privileges.

Where are files saved in Virtual Lab?
You are automatically logged into OneDrive upon connecting to the Virtual Lab. Files saved to the Virtual Lab’s Desktop or in its Documents or Pictures folders will be saved to your OneDrive Account. If you are using the desktop client, you can also save files to your local device.
