I setup a USB hard drive to hose my videos and successfully setup Plex to watch on any television within my home. However I am not able to get remote access to work as Plex sees the IP the same as the router (192.168.1.1) and it will not allow me to setup port forwarding.

I only have one Surfboard SB8200 CAble modem (no wifi) and the R9000 WIFI Router and nothing else connected. I purchased a Seagate 5TB USB drive and connected directly to the R9000 Router and setup Plex and able to watch movies via my Roku on network. What I cannot do is setup the proper port foward to allow remote access with Plex on the router.

The port should come up in the UPnP table if it doesn't know, disable UPnP and try again.

This did not help. I need to go into Port Forwarding and set 192.168.1.1 with a forwarding of port 32400 and when I try to do that it says invalid IP Address please enter it again. The UPNP only shows me a single port forwarding I have for a desktop on my network that I setup.

The IP address is incorrect since it's the router's IP that you're trying to open. It's not correct to use the IP address of the router to be used under Port Forwarding.

Hi, was there a solution to this problem, you mentioned that 192.168.1.1 was not the correct IP to add but you did not mention a solution on how to fix this.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but by using a dynamic dns service will simply replace my IP that my ISP gives me to a constant url (e.g. myr9000 .mynetgear.com ). I can't see how this will solve the problem of the plex running in the r9000 that has a an internal IP that is the same as the router 192,168.1.1.

Today I turned on my PC and started Plex, like I do every other day, nothing out of the ordinary. After about 30 seconds, the Plex app shuts down. No warning, no error message, just shut down. Restart the app, same issue. Restart the PC, same issue. Tried playing a movie file, 30 seconds and crashes.
