How do you access NAS folder shares over VPN?

I am trying to access my home NAS folders and files using Windows explorer when connecting remotely from a standalone laptop. At the moment I can establish the VPN connection (using OpenVPN), but am unable to view my folders/files. I’m not sure if this is down to VPN server/NAS configuration or share folder permissions.

You should be able to access " \\10.8.0.1\Public " etc using Windows Explorer.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have now managed to get the connection working. Despite Bitdefender making no logs of blocked traffic, I have discovered it was the Bitdefender firewall causing the problem.
