I have two US Robotics USB modems (5637) that are accessible on my Pi 3B, I can successfully send AT commands to dial / answer etc via minicom. I would like to dial in to my remote Pi over a regular POTS phone line and have access to the command line. Does anyone know if this is possible and what I need to do?

'Fraid I don't have details either but you don't need pppd for command line access. A modem set to auto answer combined with a getty running on the serial port should be enough.

Yes! I think agetty might do the trick here. Currently on my "answering" Pi, agetty is pointed to ttySO. Is this necessary or can it be changed
