Just installed v 7 today and eventually got xrdp working, sort of! Works reasonably well from an XP box, not too bad from a Win 7 box but from Win 8.1 I just get a black screen. It nearly worked but just went to black again. Screen size seems to be a bit of an issue, even with full screen I still get the scroll bars.

Try different colour depths - I get a black screen here with vnc if it uses 24/32 bit colour but 16 bit is fine.
