What is remote access and how do I use it?

Remote access provides a method for remotely and securely accessing data from TRU network drives for your F drive. This can be done from off campus or by connecting to the TRU wireless network while on campus.

How do I access the student desktops?

To access one of these desktops from your own device, please go to desktop.greenriver.edu, login using the same login and password that you use when logging on to a computer on campus, then launch the "Student Desktop" icon.

Does remote access allow me to download files from my computer?

Although remote access does not allow you to connect directly to network drives like you would when on campus, it does allow desired files to be downloaded or uploaded to the local computer. If you plan on using remote access, please ensure that you have first followed the instructions below on how to connect to the VPN.

How do I Secure my UC router when working remotely?

Use UC’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) when working remotely over an unsecured network or when connecting to remote desktop functionality, shared network drives, and UCFlex. Disable WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). Use the best/latest encryption available. Keep the router’s firmware updated (turn on auto-updates if available).

How to change password on Green River?

If you have not set your computer login password yet, go to desktop.greenriver.edu and then click on the “Change Password” link in the upper right of the screen. You will be prompted to verify your identity and then will be able to specify a password for use when logging on to campus computers.
