Actually when I first started using the transmission daemon on my NAS I found it odd that I couldn't use the Mac transmission client as a front end... If the GUI clients just wrap the same code as the daemon I wonder how hard it would be to make the front end have an option to connect to copies of transmission running in other places.

This is a feature that I would like aswell. Since the remote gui that's available for OSX doesn't really feel like OSX and you lose functionality aswell.
