Available Software

NI LabView - Install instructions and license key can be provided to CEAS students and faculty. Applicable CEAS faculty can provide instructions and key to their students.

Remote Access to CEAS Computer Labs

CEAS software installed in the college computer labs can be accessed by remoting into one of the lab machines at: https://ceas3.uc.edu/remoteaccess. Note: You must first be connected to UC's network through UC_Secure or VPN.

What is the office of college computing?

The Office of College Computing manages a wide variety of instructional computing facilities that are available to all College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) students. College Computing labs have a complement of about 400 PC workstations. All workstations are networked to the College Computing lab network. A portion of these are available to CEAS students 24 hours a day. The lab provides access to software, data, Internet and computing systems on UCNET (the university's backbone network).

What time does OCC computer labs open?

Hours of Operation: Starting Fall Semester 2020, the OCC Computer Labs will be available for physical access using card swipe: Monday - Thursday 7:30AM - 10:00PM. Friday 7:30AM - 5:00PM. They will be locked all other hours, but will still be available for remote access.

How many hours does an OCC lab record?

To protect students and to prevent theft of computer equipment, all labs with 24-hour access have video cameras which record 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Check for open seats in OCC computer labs.

Computer Hardware

IT@UC generally recommends using a computer that is four-years old or newer to ensure a smooth online experience.

Free and Reduced-Cost Internet Access

Although UC does not promote or endorse any specific vendor, if you need internet access, one of these options may be right for you.

Connecting to WiFi at Home

Setting up secure WiFi at home is easy. The first step is to change the default administrator password, which is usually not very strong.

Remote Access to Software

MyDesk provides students, faculty, and staff online access to many of the software tools available in computer labs.

eTextbooks

UC Bookstore's digital course materials platform, RedShelf, is offering free access to ebooks for students who may have lost access to course materials.

Remote Services for Researchers

Research related to COVID-19 will receive priority access to the high-performance computing resources established by the Advanced Research Computing (ARC) initiative within the Office of Research.
