How to Recognise a UC Laptop
All UC laptops have a sticker on the lid that looks like the image below. The text starting with L is the computers name (this can also be referred to as the 'Asset Tag').
What IT Services Are Available
If you have a UC laptop, you can connect to any WIFI network and work as you would if you were in the office with the following exceptions:
Access to the UC SMS (Jade)
Jade is not automatically enabled for off-site access. If you need to access Jade from home, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Accessing Timetabling (SyllabusPlus)
The TimeTabling application is not enabled for off-site access . If you need to access this application from off-campus, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Working Off-Campus
Install and register for Duo Security first. The Duo app will turn your mobile phone ( highly recommended ), iPad, tablet or landline into a multi-factor authenticator.
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
In addition to using your university password to access theVPN, a second authentication method will be required through Duo. To get started using the GlobalProtect VPN service you'll need to be sure you have registered first with Duo Security.
Remote Desktop and Applications
You can access university resources, including your regular work desktop, shared internal files, and folders by using the full downloadable VMware Horizon Client or the Horizon web client through your preferred browser. This remote option provides full connectivity to university resources, should you need that access, via a virtual windows desktop.
