For "User account", click on "Ask when required", then "Add User Account". For "Username", enter your username@umd.edu . For "Password", enter your UMD Directory Password Click "Add".
How do I connect to the University portal?
Type access.umd.edu into the Portal Address field then click Connect. You will be directed to the Central Authentication Service (CAS) page to sign in using your university Directory ID and password.
What does "inactivity" mean on a remote desktop?
Inactivity means that no mouse or keyboard input has been detected in the session for a period of 15 minutes. Disconnecting the session does not immediately log you off of your session on the remote system, close any running applications, or stop any running processes that you may have open.

Traveling While Using GlobalProtect
International students and those travelling outside the country who need to force all traffic over the VPN should follow these instructions. This will allow access for services that are blocked by the country, such as Google being blocked by China.
