Sensitive university data must not be stored on the employee’s personal computer; this may include attachments containing sensitive university information from an email. University-issued and encrypted computers configured and maintained by university IT personnel according to applicable standards and baselines should be used to conduct university business, especially any work involving sensitive university information.

A secured remote workspace should be established for remote work; such workspace should not be accessible by the general public.
How to access VCU Health Duo?
If you are on a VCU or VCU Health network on campus, you can access and setup VCU Health Duo at https://duo.vcuhealth.org. If not, you can connect into VCU's RamsVPN and access the site then to setup Duo. If you still can't access the site, you will have to contact the VCU Health Service Desk at (804) 828-6447.
What is duo authentication?
Duo is a 2-factor authentication tool that provides a second piece of verification when you are logging into certain systems or services. This is very similar to receiving a text message when logging into your bank from a new computer.

Do you have to record work hours for VCU?
Wage/hourly and non-exempt employees are eligible to receive overtime pay or overtime leave at time-and-a-half and are therefore required to record actual work hours each day, as well as submit leave requests, using VCU RealTime. Exempt staff and faculty are required to use VCU RealTime to submit leave requests.
What is ramsvpn?
RamsVPN is a VPN tunnel that treats the computer you are using as if it were plugged into a wired VCU network (with some restrictions based on affiliation). On a personal device, this should only be used to access internal VCU websites and apps. On a SOMTech-managed device, you can then connect to the SOM Shares.
Can you remotely connect to a SOM computer?
SOMTech can setup your office Windows computer to allow you to remotely connect into it. This would effectively be the same as your sitting in front of your computer, so you would have access to the SOM shares and applications on your computer. Can you connect to RamsVPN?
If you have a laptop managed by SOMTech, you can connect to RamsVPN to access the SOM Shares through the normal mapped drives. Once connected to RamsVPN, you can access internal VCU resources. If you need access to VCU Health resources, you should connect to the VCU Health VPN or Connect).
Can you use VCU Health's Zoom?
In order to host meetings on the VCU Zoom instance, an account must be requested. If you have a vcuhealth.org email account , you can use VCU Health's Zoom instance without needing to request an account. Is VCU Zoom a license?
As of 3/18/2020, all VCU Zoom accounts are being issued as "Licensed". It is no longer necessary for users to fill out a request ticket. They simply log in at vcu.zoom.us with their VCU eID and password, and their account will be provisioned. Users still working with a "Basic" account should log out and back in again to get their new "Licensed" credentials.
Overview
The App2Go system consists of high cost statistical and mathematical applications that are installed and managed on a Citrix XenApp server. When you run an application from App2Go, the application appears to be running on your local computer. You can open and save files on your computer and print on your local printer.
Why Use the App2Go System?
It saves you money. You don't need to purchase a license because it is licensed on the server.
Restrictions
The software available on the App2Go system may only be used by current VCU faculty, staff and students for VCU work only. The App2Go system is licensed to support 250 concurrent users, limiting the use to 250 people on the App2Go system at one time. Due to this limitation, the App2Go system is NOT intended for instructional use.
Server Specification
The App2Go system is a server farm consisting of 4 servers, each with quad-core 3.00 GHz processors and 16GB ram.
Virtual Desktop
A centrally managed Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) with distributed authority to schools and departments for creation, management, and deployment of virtual desktop will be implemented using Citrix XenDesktop.
